Saltillo Lions Fall to Avinger,
Lady Lions Win 65-23

The Saltillo Lions opened up District play at home Tuesday night and fell to the 2nd ranked Avinger Indians 65-29.
Lions only trailed 12-7 after the 1st quarter but the Indians went on a 20-0 run in the 2nd quarter and led 35-13 at half time lead to take control of the game.
Jonathon Van Holten led the scoring for the Lions with 12, Lane Bench added 10, Clayton Wilson chipped in 4 and Mathew Gurley had 3.
The Lions return to action Tuesday as they travel to Union Hill at 7:30.
The state ranked Saltillo Lady Lions ran their District record to 3-0 with a 65-23 win over Avinger Friday night.
The Lady lions jumped out to a 33-8 half time lead and went on to outscore the visiting Lady Indians 32-15 in the 2nd half.
Paula Boekhorst led the way with 25 points 11 rebounds and 6 assists, Madison Simmons added 12, Melissa Groenwald had 10, Tori Mobley added 9 on 3 three point shots, Ana Gallegos had 5 points and 7 steals and 6 assists while Christie Gurley and Siena Collins had 2 a piece.
The Lady Lions along with the JV lady Lions will be back in action Tuesday as they travel to Union Hill beginning at 5pm
